Conversion practices to change sexual orientation and gender identity are still very common in the United States!

The United States Joint Statement (USJS) Against Conversion Efforts is a consensus statement of 28 professional medical and mental health associations partnering to end “conversion therapy.” Psychotherapists, counselors, clergy, and lay people have used these practices to try to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity in spite of repeated studies showing that they are ineffective and likely harmful.
